Damien Tansey Solicitors LLP represents family of Sheena Eivers at Coroners’ Inquest

The firm has acted for the family of Sheena Eivers (42), who was found dead at her home in Saggart, Co Dublin, on 1st July 2021. Her death came less than one week after an increase in her prescription of lithium medication above agreed levels. The Inquest heard evidence that serotonin syndrome – a potentially fatal condition caused by medication build in the body – may have played a role in her unexpected death. As a result of confusion around the cause of death, four separate post mortem reports had been prepared which caused considerable distress to the family.

Returning a narrative verdict, the Coroner expressed her condolences to the Eivers family and said there had been “complicated” issues involved in the case. The Coroner also endorsed changes introduced by the State Laboratory in the aftermath of Sheena Eivers’ death.

Damien Tansey Solicitors LLP was represented at the Inquest by Niall Tansey (Partner).
